A 16th century coaching inn on the most beautiful high street in England. Rooms, real ales, and a fire worth sitting by.
An inn has stood on this spot for over six centuries. Charles II sheltered here fleeing the Roundheads. Samuel Johnson is said to have worked on his dictionary in what is now the Johnson Suite. The stone by table 9 came from the Norman castle across the road. We haven't changed the important things.
Cask Marque accredited ales, premium gins, a wine list worth reading, and a fire that gets going in October and doesn't stop until April. Happy hour every day 3–7pm. Dogs welcome in the bar. The locals have been coming here for decades. So have their parents.
The Henley Mile Brewery sits just steps from our front door. A small independent brewery making distinct, flavourful English ales from local ingredients. We're proud to pour their beer at the bar. When you drink a Henley Mile ale at the White Swan, it has travelled about thirty seconds to reach your glass.

A bed for the night
The Johnson Suite is where Samuel Johnson is said to have worked on one of the most influential versions of the English dictionary. You can read a copy of it on the desk. Our other rooms have beamed ceilings, modern en-suite bathrooms, and the kind of quiet that only comes from very thick, very old walls. Full English breakfast included. Free parking. WiFi throughout.
